ENEMIES WITHIN

Enemies Within tackles some difficult issues. When an investigative reporter is intentionally infected with a deadly virus, his search for the people responsible reveals an intricate web of deceit and coverup. However, it thrusts him back through the major issues of his own life as he races against time to discover the perpetrators of his own murder.

Enemies Within takes on important issue when resolves a question about conspiracy theories. This film examines the fact that conspiracy participants often contribute without ever knowing the ultimate effect of what they've done. Often conspiracies are not conspiracies at all. Enemies shows us that people are used on the basis of their beliefs, their commitments, and their trust. It demonstrates the power which even one man might wield where, even for a short time, that power can have a devastating impact on the course of the world. It shows us that some of the theories about the laboratory origins of the AIDS virus might, in fact, be true. The most effective conspiracies might not be conspiracies at all!

While we all can be certain that we would never commit the atrocities of a Hitler, an Idi Amin, or some of those which have been recently revealed in Bosnia or Zaire, we can also be certain that circumstances can draw us further and further toward a mindset that might permit us to accept an atrocity as a necessary evil. Enemies Within asks a moral question which each can answer based on personal ethics and integrity. It is a film that is frightening in its premise, and horrifying when viewed in terms of our own reality today.
